How can we help?
Here at The Skills Academy, we understand that students may need a helping hand financially when studying, letting you focus on your studies. The college has specialist learner support funds which can be used to help you overcome any financial barriers. We can offer help with:
- Bus travel during term time *Please note there is a £5 administration charge per term for students travelling by bus. foe the bus (some students may be eligible to have this cost paid by the bursary fund).
- Free college meals (if in receipt of an eligible benefit)
- Discount on any kit and equipment deemed necessary to complete your course
- Help towards childcare costs when you are in college if you are aged 20+. Students aged 16-19 can apply for Care to Learn on the Gov.uk website
All students must complete a bursary application form before they can be considered for any of the above support.

Termly Charge – Ways to Pay
There is a termly £5 charge for bus passes. Please pay by the following dates: 15th November 2024, 7th March 2025, 9th May 2025. You can pay by cash, card or telephone Monday – Friday during term-time.
Paying by cash
Student can take cash to the Safeguarding and Welfare Office (Chris’ office) Monday to Friday during term time.
