How can we help?

Here at The Skills Academy, we understand that students may need a helping hand financially when studying, letting you focus on your studies. The college has specialist learner support funds which can be used to help you overcome any financial barriers. We can offer help with:

  • Bus travel during term time (dependent on location) *Please note there is a £5 administration charge per term for students travelling by bus.  
  • Free college meals (if in receipt of an eligible benefit)
  • Discount on any kit and equipment deemed necessary to complete your course
  • IT equipment loan
  • Money towards data costs
  • Help towards childcare costs when you are in college

Information for students who travel using an Arriva or Stagecoach pass

Arriva passes
Due to recent issues with the Arriva passes, Arriva have sent out a new Regionwide pass which will be active 7 days a week during term time. You will need to collect your new pass before 4th December.  

Stagecoach passes
Please collect your new pass, which is valid till 19th Dec, if you have not done so already.

Termly Charge – Ways to Pay
The termly £5 charge for bus passes is due.  Please pay by 4th December to ensure your pass remains live.  For the Arriva passes, we will issue your new pass on receipt of your £5

Paying by cash
Student can take cash to the Safeguarding and Welfare Office (Chris’ office) Monday to Friday during term time.
